The Motorola MOTORIZR Z8, running on UIQ 3.1, is now available in the shops, and since it was announced at the 3GSM 2007, just a few days after the UIQ 3.1 SDK was released, you've had all the tools needed and enough time to create or port your applications for this fantastic device!

What you might have been lacking, is actually the opportunity to have the phone in your hands, to check that your applications run on it as intended. That's why, starting July 16th until September 30th, you will have the possibility to send your applications to UIQ Technology, that will test them, free of charge, on a MOTORIZR Z8, and send back a test report to you.

The version 3 of the UIQ development platform has been designed from the ground up to be forward compatible: an application developed for a specific UIQ 3.x release should run without any change on any subsequent release. However, it might happen that this is not the case for your application: to benefit fully from this compatibility, UIQ applications must be designed and written according to the UIQ guidelines (see the Tutorials & Guides section) and if you haven't followed those recommendations or if you used phone specific features, it's likely that your application will not work fully on a release, and you will need to update it.

How to get you application tested

It couldn't be more simple: go to the Application Submission Page, and fill in the form, providing your application installation file, some basic information about yourself and your company, if the application was written specifically for UIQ 3.1 or not, and that's it. Within a few days, we will send you a test report back.

The test report is relatively simple and basic, and is intended to help you assert the need or not to update your application to run perfectly on UIQ 3.1. The information contained in the report are:

The intend is not to provide you a full-scale test of the application on all its features, functions and uses-cases, but a simple sanity check "it can be installed, started and run".

Under no circumstances, shall the application test report we sent to you be used as a certification or assessment of the quality or validity of your application.
