New Signing UIQ 3 applications Developers Guidelines

The new Developers' Guidelines for signing applications for Sony Ericsson UIQ 3 phones gives a technical overview of how to handle Symbian Signing of native Symbian OS v9, UIQ 3 and C++ applications for the Sony Ericsson P990, M600 and W950 phones. It also outlines the Symbian Platform Security (PlatSec) associated with the deployment and installation of UIQ 3-based applications on these phones and contains a useful appendix of functions listed by capability.
This document is divided into three sections:
1. Symbian OS v9 security architecture
Giving a general overview of the Symbian OS v9 security features implemented in the P990, M600 and W950 UIQ 3-based phones, this section explains capabilities, identifiers, data caging, unsigned-sandboxed applications, capability mapping, developer certificates, ACS publisher ID, publisher certifiers and signing freeware applications.
2. Symbian OS v9 application signing
Here you will find the practical implications of Symbian OS v9 platform security and the steps to take during the development of Symbian Signed applications. This section covers planning for Symbian Signing including presenting the list required capabilities, and how to create applications by outlining the general signing procedure, UID allocation, the three different developer certificate levels, testing procedures and tools, and how to submit an application to Symbian Signed.
