Say Hello to the MOTO Z10, sporting UIQ 3.2

07 January 2008

The new MOTO Z10 is a complete, pocket-sized, mobile film studio and is a stylish kick slider that makes it easy to capture high-quality video, edit clips, create transitions between scenes and add title slides and a soundtrack. In addition to creating videos, MOTO Z10 features great media playback capabilities and has a 3.2 megapixel camera capturing up to three images a second. The MOTO Z10 has a crystal-clear 2.2" QVGA screen that displays video at 30 frames per second in millions of colors and comes with 3.5G HSDPA, GSM/GPRS/EDGE.

The MOTO Z10 is based on UIQ 3.2 that was unveiled today as well.

UIQ 3.2 is an upgrade of UIQ 3.1 and is intended for the phone manufactures, adding new features and customization options to the UIQ Platform, for instance OMA Email Notification 1.0, OMA IMPS 1.2 for instant messaging, MMS postcard, extended customization possibilities of the Application Launcher and support for some additional Java Specification Requests (SR-248).

This additions the UIQ Platform are beneficial to UIQ's licensees, the phone manufacturers, and, ultimately, the users of the phones based on UIQ 3.2, but will not impact third party developers: since no new public application programming interface (API) has been added in this version of UIQ, no new Software Development Kit (SDK) will be issued for third parties.

This means that UIQ 3 applications that were and will be developed using the UIQ 3.0 or UIQ 3.1 SDKs will also work on phones based on UIQ 3.2, as UIQ 3.2 is fully compatible with UIQ 3.1 and doesn't require new tools or software to build applications for the phones using it.
